How to take criticism

http://www.chrisjonesblog.com/2014/04/producers-submit-script.html

Look familiar?

Entertaining but fake, no way a producer would have hung on in there for so long.

Why would it be fake?

It says they actually met in person and that would solicit extra replies.
He responded politely each time making his point succinctly.

And yes it does look familiar.

This.

The fact they met in person would have added a 'personal' element to it that would have made the producer (seemingly a nice guy) feel inclined to reply more often than he would have done with some other anonymous online nutter whom he had never met in-person.

Another reason they don't read unsolicited stuff is that they leave themselves open to litigation attempts in the future, should anything remotely-similar to the script be made in the future.

Writing is a funny business. We pour our heart and soul into our little creations. We grow them, nurture them, love them and think they are perfect.

I think all of us occasionally suffer from an internal monologue that is similar to this guy's. Maybe we aren't quite so confident, but ultimately we are all waiting for someone to affirm our genius for us.

We don't all commit it to page though. That is really very confident. And delusional.

Reminds me of some of the threads in Critique.

Reminds me of the black knight in Monty Python's Holy Grail who wants to keep fighting even though all his limbs have been hacked off.

In any negotiation, you've got to work out who's got the power and act accordingly...

If someone criticises your work, don't take it personally: It tells you more about their taste than it does about your work. But if someone praises your work, don't take it personally: It tells you more about their taste than it does about your work.

Take criticism like your mom takes balls....on the chin.

You speak in riddles, sooty - are you referring to ping pong?

Surely it must be soccer? You're doing it wrong if wiff waff involves your chin.

I mean like paying because your mums takes balls on the chin at sport direct.com

Laughing out loud

If at first you don't succeed throw your toys out of the pram

This made me cringe but I see writers approaching agents on twitter all the time with this kind of thing. Did anyone ever get a book/script taken on because they hassled an agent with it? I don't think so.
