Looking for old sitcom title

From another forum this was the description given, copied verbatim, so pardon the spelling:

"IIRC, the scene starts off simple enough in that the woman has lost her ring. However, as the episode goes on the hunt for her ring gets more and more histerical. Seems the ring has ended up in the rubish bin (hows that for an american staying authentic? :D) and the garbage truck empties the bin into his truck. Just when you think her chase is over and the garbage truck drives down the street, the older woman pokes her head from around the back of the garbage truck. She had jumped on the bumper and hitched a ride on her quest for her ring. Her expressions are so matter of fact and deadpan which makes the "chase" even more englishly hillarious.

The only thing I recall about the two younger women is that they were such charactertures of the bourgeois culture. Big bleached blonde hair. Tons of lipstick. Big eyelashes. Smoking like freighttrains and they seemed to look down upon the older woman (their aunt?), who obviously had much more class in her simplistic way."

Anyone got any idea which show this may be?

Absolutely Fabulous?

Keeping Up Appearances?

Wasn't there a similar scene in Miranda, or am I fantasising? It sounds so familiar, except for the "older lady" rummaging through the garbage...it would have been Miranda herself in my "imaginary scene".

Someone guessed Ab Fab and Keeping Up Appearances, but the person doesn't seem to think any of the episode descriptions fit for Ab Fab. I'm not sure if he checked episodes for KUA.

Miranda is too recent as he seems to recall watching it in the States, on PBS, sometime in the '90s.

Yes could be Ab Fab with June Whitfield.
