The trailer for the new Simpsons movie has just been released. I've got doubts about the movie but at least the trailer is funny.
The Simpsons Movie
Good trailer, but like you I have my doubts about the movie. The series has been in gradual decline since season eight and movies based on TV shows are notoriously unpredictable. Hope I'm wrong and I will be first in line to see it (for old time's sake).
The film was absolutely amazing. I hope they make a number 2.
Why you little ....

Why? Are they constipated?
I watched an episode of The Simpsons the other day, it was about Bart getting sent to "Juvy". It was a perfect example of what the Simpsons has lost, empathy.
In an familiar themed older episode where Bart steals a video game, we watch Bart deal with his guilty conscience and Marge feel disappointed in her son. It's a classic and has a story you can care about, as well as making it seem as the characters grow/learn. This newer episode however felt cold and empty, like just another episode of a cartoon, any cartoon. Marge cried when the judge handed down Bart's punishment but that was it, after that scene she was gone, not relivent to the episode. Where was her struggle, that's her "little boy". We saw this in the episode where the kids get sent to a foster home (the Flandereses). It makes the episode feel complete, when the whole family are featured. I'm not saying it's essential but just bring back its heart! Go back to your roots! Or just bring back Futurama, that'll do.

...and the new animations are immaculate and lifeless as well.
And that.
Lee's hit the nail on the head. It's far too gag based now and not enough about the characters. Mind you, after 24 years, I'm not surprised they've exhausted the characters development.
If the characters are exhausted they should have ended the show and carried on the legacy with Futurama.
I think the Simpsons is still good viewing
Now Family Guy on the other hand - the last series was tired and tedious and pretty crap
That show does need to end already
