What Makes A Character Likeable Page 2

It's someone's flaws that make them likeable.

Not necessarily. I can think of a few examples of people whose flaws make them extremely unlikeable!

Except for Hitler.

You could say snobby, looks down on people are morally abhorant category

Hitler is funny! He was massively flawed, short man syndrome, inferiority complex, one bollock, stupid walk, power complex - he just took it all a bit too far that's all. If he was in a sitcom and didn't kill so many jews he would be hilarious

Well Charlie Chaplin proved that in the Great Dictator, before you know like Ziggy Stardust he took it all too far.

I think sitcom like most comedy is very close to tragedy.

Porridge, Steptoe and Son, even Ross's descent into madness in Friends all those laughs come from a very dark place.

Ross reduced to a medicated, gibbering simpleton was uncomfortably funny.

I don't think snobby people are necessarily morally abhorant. The whole point of being snobby is to be better morally and ever other way.
