Hi everyone, I'm currently writing a sitcom and I want a real nasty baddie type character - like Father Jack, but not as pissed and more cruel.
So, can anyone give me some other really bad characters from other shows
Thanks

Er, you're meant to be writing your own sitcom?
Mr Bean, Vivian from the Young Ones, Captain Square, Madge from Benidorm, Bishop Brenan, Mrs Richards from Fawlty Towers...
I don't think sitcoms generally have "baddies" in the typical sense. I can't think of many genuinely evil sitcom characters.
Instead I would think of the one person who would wind your main character up the most.
That could be due to their similarities (e.g. Niles and Frasier) or their differences (Lister and Rimmer). That will create the conflict you need.
Ashley Schaeffer.
But would a really nasty baddie character actually be amusing? The only example of a comedy character that's genuinely and deliberately nasty that I can think of is Jill in Nighty Night - although actually Julia Davis's character in the first episode of Human Remains is an even better example ('there was some bullying at Roedean, but nothing that I regret').
There are also characters like Papa Lazarou in the League of Gentlemen ('you're my wife now') - sort of sinister but basically cartoonish and unreal.
Father Jack's not really nasty, just cantankerous. Implication is that he's not behaving that way in order to get at Ted and Dougal - he just is that way and can't help it.
I agree it's mostly a question of antagonism with the main character, not genuine cruelty.
