John Cleese - Puns?

He said once that the three laws of comedy are "No puns, no puns, no puns" and yet ISIRTA and ISIHAC (of which he was a founder panellist) are, if not founded on that premise, riddled with them.

I see nothing wrong in puns myself, but what do you think about them and JC's seemingly double standards?

No one? :(

Puns are a bit like sugar or chilli sauce, nice in measured doses but they'll make you pretty sick on their own.

Probably the best example being Vic's dove pun on Shooting Stars, where the whole joke was how bad they were.

Watching or listening to pun based comedy it's al about how they're fitted together.
