Best comedy theme tune? Page 8

I didn't realise this was a comedy, John...? Errr If it was, that just further complicates what the f**k the show was meant to be about. :(

Saphire and Steel's creator, Peter Hammond, did do a sitcom called Lame Ducks. I've not seen it but the Radio Times Guide to TV Comedy calls it "comedy with a serious edge."

I love music, but usually I resent any theme tune, I prefer it when we go straight into the comedy. Themes are unnecessary imo; if the programme makers really feel they have to have a short intro to their show, they could have something other than music. Why not have some speech, animal noise, silence (some of the best shows have a bit of silence), or a long fart?

Oooh I loved Lame Ducks! Lorraine Chase's finest moment (agreed there aren't that many moments to choose from but still). John Duttine starred as some bloke who had enough with modern life and went off to live in a dilapidated cottage in the country. Various oddbods came to join him, including Lorraine Chase and Brian Murphy, and errr hilarity ensued.

I quite like the American show Weeds because it has the same song sung by a different band/person each week. It's one of those songs that worm their way into your brain. "Little boxes on the hillside..."

On The Buses
Only Fools And Horses
Stepoe & Son
The Liver Birds
Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em
Porridge
Dad's Army
The Young Ones
George & Mildred
Terry & June

The Jeremy Kyle Show theme tune. When I hear that I know I'm in for some laughs.

P.S. I know it's not comedy as such but it's f**king funny.

Edited for capital letters, grammar and punctuation.

Hi twit er. :)
Can I ask you to use capital letters and punctuation in your posts, as per the site rules. Thanks!

Dont you dare tell me how live my life!!

I loved the Mad About You theme, but I'd totally forgotten about the Men of the World tune! *heads off to YouTube*

If comedy films are allowed then Superbad is great, especially with the dancing sillhouettes.

It's Sorry! Why has nobody said that yet?

My thoughts exactly!

Bob and Margaret has a nice theme tune I think.

Always used to love the Robin's Nest theme with that funky but laid-back Moog lead. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OTYOUUgUQuc

Big fan of the League Of Gents theme too, especially the Clavi funked-up series 3. Joby Talbot's a genius. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1IxiEPNPqoQ

Also I have a very specific piece of music earmarked for my sitcom if it ever makes to telly, so hands off you buggers! It's an instrumental break from a fantastic song called The Happy Goth by the Divine Comedy. It starts at 2:47 here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kj8QE2Qjafc#t=2m47s

My favourite British sitcom theme tune must be that one for "Filthy, Rich & Catflap"

although it's not a typical comedy tune...it would fit a detective or mystery show nicely.

Then I like the "Red Dwarf" end credit song with the vocals.

Not a theme, but this always tells me I'm in for a good half hour:
