This is the News

I've just finished a podcasting course at my university, and I want to share the result, see what people think, give me ideas on how to improve.

It's a satircal podcast called This is the News, a sort of Daily Show/Colbert Report/Late Edition programme. It involves making fun of the news, non-news, and even little campaigns (mostly for trivial things mind). If the reaction is good, I may do more. If it isn't, I know I should stop.

I should apologise in advance for the sound quality. It varies because I recorded it at two different times. (So, first area of improvement, do all of the recording in one go.)

The link is here.

Thanks for posting Ian.

Personally, I think you'd be better off summing the first 4 1/2 minutes up in 30 seconds and moving on to "This is Not the News."

Some of this is funny, and very well observed, but I'm afraid I didn't find the "Diana" part remotely funny, and you kinda lost me after that. You obviously have very strong views about Diana, but if you want to put it across in a humerous way, it didn't work for me. Others may totally disagree, of course.

I have to be honest. It didn`t work at all for me. The diana part just wasn`t funny, and i felt the whole parody explanation went on for way too long. I dont know. Maybe if the script was tighter, and everything was delivered faster, but most importantly of all. I would say it has to be a whole lot funnier.

Sorry if i`m being a bit harsh, and that it isnt a particularly helpful critique. Anyway i wouldnt give up. I just think it needs a heck of a lot of work.

Sorry Ian,

I couldn't even get through the Prescott satire explanation without thinking this was something a six-former has come up with in his lunchtimes in the school media room.

However we haven't even done a podcast, so well done for doing that and good on yer for having the gumption, and confidence, to have a go.

We shall keep an eye out for you, although which of the four is open for debate.

Best of luck to yer.
