in 1978,ITN has its first female news'reader what is her name?

This is all such bollocks, the first woman to read the ITN news was in 1956.

George, if you are going to do a nostalgia-based quiz at least have the decency to check whether your nostalgia matches up with historical fact anywhere along the line. Otherwise we are just playing "what is the answer in George's head?" and that's a place I don't want to visit.

Yes indeed - and that was what was said at the time. Apparently there was someone called Barbara Mandell who was there very briefly in 1955 and again in 1960 but I had never heard of her. Neither has anyone else unless they are fast approaching 80 or alternatively they have nothing better to do all day than Google.

Where do you find your pictures of Twister Mr Horseradish?

Or for that matter any information about Barbara Mandell?

Where do you find your pictures of Twister Mr Horseradish?

The one in my picture is actually a colour wheel which is based to some extent on the theories of Sir Isaac Newton and von Goethe. The second is a commercial approximation but no less enlightening in its own way. I like to think that both emanated from my spiritual being whatever the appearance of them being external.

It's your turn.

It's your turn.

Is that what you call it? Ah well, how about 1979 having been one of the Winters of Discontent?

No, George wants you to ask a question. It's your turn.

Yes - I think the answer to 1979 is the Winter of Discontent.

The other questions are harder so it looks like a team event.

Ask, not answer.

Ask, not answer.

Is it? How does it work then? I may be about to do this all wrong.

1970 - Which famous British festival was held for the first time?

1970 - Annual Melton Mowbray Festival of the Pork Pie.

My turn?

2013 - Which pisspoor thread was started on the BCG by george roper?

I've left it ambiguous in keeping with the standard of questions so far.

Sadly, the Melton Mowbray Festival of the Pork Pie is not what is on the card.
Under the rules, the counter moves back to the comforting square of nostalgia.
