Can you upload the list after, Tuumble? I doubt I'll get to listen.

It will be available as a podcast so if you really wanted you could potentially even have me as your Christmas party DJ any time after Midday on Saturday. :)

As you've been good enough to fill in I'll even add you on to a list of shout outs.

I'll upload the complete Top 50 chart at some point over the weekend or the beginning of next week.

:) Ok, ta.

Cliff Richard had better make it through. Angry

Done.

I know you love Frankie, Tuumble, but you are stretching it to call that a Christmas song. At least East 17 had sleighbells! :)

Ha! It's a fair point but it's on the Christmas compilations and has a nativity video so that's goog enough for me. ;)

It makes FrankieSense

Absolute gold!

:D

Well over 50 people have cast their votes now and all I'll say is is that some rock legends need to be worried. There's only 1 or 2 in the Top 20 that truly surprise me but when you consider what's not there there will be some acts very conspicuous by their absense.

You forgot Another Rock n Roll Christmas...

Yes, according to 'literary theory' the song exists as an entity on its own, in this regard the creator and/or performer is a separate issue and of course you don't have to mention who it's by. A cracking little festive song that should be in the list, would be in my top 10.

The list still shows how strong Christmas pop songs can be, and how varied, from the choir like and serene to the loud and rocky, from the classical music borrowing of Greg Lake to the slow blues of Elvis, two of the best songs on the list. Many of the others are plain commercial cash ins with every jingle jangle going that still create great tunes. Tough call.:S

Too true Mr Kipper :)

Thanks everyone - will try and give you all a shout out.

I'll now be doing a 25 song Christmas song chart rundown so we'll be packed to the rafters with classic tunes this mestive ficklemass day. Tune in at 10am this morning on www.peterborough.fm and click 'listen live'.

You can download the podcasts now and I gave a shout out to every BCGer in this thread (in the first half hour of part 1 I think).
