Del boy and Rod?

Two dopes in a car driving through an old village and the driver says 'I think the brakes are failing', the passenger points at an old garage. The driver glides in to the forecourt and stops with the help of the handbrake. The passenger jumps out to look for a mechanic and runs round the back and finds one working on a car.The passenger says 'could you have a look at our car the brakes have gone','Yes' said the mechanic,'drive your car over the pit out front and I'll come round in a tic'.The next thing,the mechanic hears a bang and runs round and looks in astonishment as the driver has a Robin Reliant.

It could work nicely as a visual gag in a TV sitcom or sketch, but doesn't work as a joke because you have to visualise it. Nice idea though.

The joke is that with a single wheel at the front, the vehicle ends up in the pit.

Maybe lay it out as a sketch in the old style:

We see two dopes in a car driving through an old village.
