This is a comedy forum not a grammar and punctuation forum, get the funny bit right first and a friend can sort out the rest if you want to be serious about it and send it off to the BBC

If you want me to read it and post critique, then at least give it a once over.

As someone else has said, if you suffer from a learning disability it's a different story. But if you don't, you're not respecting the time I put in to give you advice.

I'm serious and other people here are too, that's why serious advice is good.

Shame that is exactly what puts people off, do I have to specify first that I have a learning disability or after you have told me that I can't write

There was (at least) one famous comedy writer notorious for crappy grammar and punctuation, but I can't remember who it was. Was it Ben Elton?

Puts people off what exactly? She was offering to help you I think.

Grammar matters but exceptions can be made for those with learning disabilities because with them it's not just laziness. It is also assumed that, as you say, a friend or proofreader will sort if out before it goes off to a producer.

If someone comments that your punctuation is wrong, why not just explain that you have a disability? They'll be fine with that. We can't just assume everybody has a disability and never mention poor grammar.

The way you were posting earlier was like saying no one should check their grammar before posting here. People without learning disabilities making mistakes because they're too lazy to check their own work before asking others to give up their time to read and comment on it is disrespectful, though.

I'm not too fond of the term "learning disability", as it implies some form of mental retardation. In simpler times, a person with such an affliction was either "a bit slow" or "a bit mad".

That was not help, that was telling me I should state in my profile that I have a learning disability so people won't take the piss

Right.....that's exactly what I said....and who said it was ok to take the piss? It's never ok to take the piss.

It is ok to mention when grammar mistakes have been made, though.

Me neither

You are telling people who are trying to help you if you do have a learning disability that they are wrong Carlos. I am confused by this if you do wish help? As in helping to learn I mean?

Shouldn't it be about the writing first and the imagination and creativity that has gone into it. Just because Jack cannot spell doesn't mean he is stupid

We're talking here about selling stuff. But otherwise it is a whole different kettle of fish, I agree.

This is not my thread I am not asking for help I am just commenting on something that was said about grammar
