I am seriously 55 percent through one hundred compendiums of the magnet billy bunter volumes

I read the scant few Greyfriars titles that were available in the school and public libraries. Perhaps the Owl didn't appeal to arbiters of Australian education as a good role model. Last I read included an Indian student, while the Owl was being lazy yet hoped to get some sweets. I was thinking of next reading through the Biggles set.

Yaroop! Oh, scissors! Yoohoohoop!

On the subject of gender-neutral names, one of the stronger characters in Malory Towers is Wilhelmina Robinson but nearly everyone calls her Bill. She is a good horsewoman and brooks no nonsense:

If you still enjoy diving Bill, you oughta come to Indonesia - I can show you some great locations. Avoid the tourist mess that is Bali and instead seek out some more remote places.

Usually contracted to Billie for females.

Nah, I haven't dived since 1993 when I was a youngster of only 53; nowadays I doubt that I could summon up the energy.

My friends Dr Elizabeth Wood & her husband Chris still dive and do quite a lot of scientific work in Indonesia. Liz is a world expert on Corals.
