US sitcoms Page 2

Ah, but certain shows may not have made it over here yet - either at all, or by season. Which is a pain. One particular show I was recommended, Jake in Progress, hasn't as far as I know, been on in the UK, but I really enjoyed it.

(And of course, speaking generally, a lot of stuff just isn't available at all - unless you know where to look online. (Both American and British.))

You're obviously more in to this downloading marlarkey than me - I wouldn't know where to start. I don't get that much time to watch TV at the moment, so am happy to make do with what's on TV and my DVDs.

To be honest, I don't get much time either - but it's nice to know that it's there, for a "rainy day", or just plain because it's not available on DVD (Morecambe & Wise, Frankie Howerd, and so on).

I might look in to downloading episodes of The New Adventures of Old Christine, as it doesn't look like it's going to appear on our TV screens anytime soon. Interested to watch it as it's the first show to break the Seinfeld curse, but mostly because it stars the lovely Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Not heard of that one. Might see if I can find an episode to try. :)

Send me the link if you find one. ;)

One US sitcom I've always loved is "The Drew Carey Show". One of the most underrated shows ever, if you ask me. Not only were the ordinary episodes hilarious, but there were also special episodes such as "What's wrong with this epsiode?", which was filtered with deliberate mistakes throughout, "Drew Live", an improvisation episode as well as special musical episodes too. This show was Emmy award worthy, but as far as I know, never won anything. It's not even available to buy on DVD in the USA, let alone here!! :(

I believe it's available on t'Internet, if you're interested in that kind of thing. ;)

I know. I recently, accidentally, acquired the first three seasons of the show using that method. I'm currently getting the fourth, by mistake of course. Whistling nnocently

Oh, of course.

I received the DVD of series three of Arrested Development last week and am currently working my way through the episodes. Anyone seen the episode entitled 'For British Eyes Only'? Funniest thing I've seen in ages.

I keep hearing great things about Arrested Development. Does it air in the UK or will I have to accidentally use another method to get the show?

The BBC did what they always do when they get their hands on a good US sitcom - they showed a few episodes at around midnight and then lost interest. I read recently that Bravo have started to show it - not sure what series they are showing. It's one of those shows that you can't just dip in to - you need to watch it from episode one.

I'll probably just use the other method. It'll be better as I’ll be able to watch from the beginning.

I read in last week's Broadcast that UKTV Gold have just picked up
The New Adventures of Old Christine, starring Julia Louis-Dreyfus of Seinfeld fame. No word on when it will be shown yet, but hopefully we won't have too long to wait.
