I'm not saying it isn't but where is the Comedy to rival say
The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin or Blackadder. I know The Office and Partridge were amazing but great stuff seems to be the exception rather than the rule now. Any views ?
Is comedy as funny as it used to be ?
I'm sure at the time of those shows, there was an equal amounts of crap on at the same time. These examples just stand out. Give it 10 years and you'll feel the same.
I think you are suffering a severe case of Rose tinted glasses. OK Blackadder was very funny but there was a lot of rubbish in the past though. Didn't the 70's have stuff like Love thy Neighbour and Mind your language. Admittedly I have never watched a whole episode as they were a bit before my time but the clips I have watched were dreadful.
And what about Black Books, The Simpsons, Extras, Saxondale, League of Gentlemen, The Peep Show, the list goes on.
I'm fairly certain great stuff has never been the rule.
It's always been the exception.
I think comedy is better now. And there's more of it.
We're lucky to have the best of both
