Just finished my second-ever sitcom collab with another writer. Readthrough in a couple of weeks then off to the agent to flog it. Started straight away on a brand new sitcom. That'll be my 12th.
Must. Keep. Going.

Wow. Nice work. That's motivation for you! I tend to start writing a thing, decide said thing is shit, get in a bad mood with thing, refuse to work on thing, sulk for a few months, find thing in a pile, think thing is actually a lot better than I thought it was, start writing thing....and repeat...:-D

Good grief! That is spookily accurate to me...

Cool. I've started to write with another person, rather than doing things mostly on my own, over the last year and I've found I've enjoyed the process of being in a 'team' a lot. Of course, it does mean less money.

Lee, do you recommend an agent (I don't mean a particular one). I've thought about getting representation but instead I send my ideas to pretty much the same people and wait for BBC windows.
I think the thing I'm currently doing may be my best and I'm considering hawking myself around agents. What's your experience? I suppose it helps that you're some sort of multi-award winning superstar.

I am not Lee. Sorry. But yes of course, if you CAN get an agent, then that can be very useful indeed, as they'll be able to get many more people to see your script than you will probably be able to. Of course, it's not that easy to get one; often they expect someone to come with a recommendation, or have seen something of yours they like, most won't just let you send something to them. Doesn't hurt to ask if you can, though. But it's not completely essential to have one, you can get stuff picked up without one.
Just to keep in line with the thread, I've outlined a comedy drama that I really can't wait to write.
I also have three episodes of a half hour comedy that is gradually getting rejected by everyone. It did OK in the last BBC submission.

Thanks Mr Stott. I'll write the next thing and see how it comes out before I decide if it's worth trying.
By the way, loving the Hunka Wunda stuff and always amazed and impressed at how you get so many viewers.
Enough kissing everyone's ass already!
