When/Why did the BCG become so dull & lifeless? Page 24

Phases fleet Ben, it's what they do.

To fleet?

To "alter the position of" nautically?

If not, it doesn't make sense.

I doubt it does anyway.

A script rejected.

A dirty bomb chucked - as advised.

A "dirty" bomb to detonate at the network of my choice.

And several days of civil war.

I must admit there is a definite pessimism on this subject and some seem really vexed by any suggestions of trying to jazz the gaff up.
I don't know why this is and if I was being totally honest I don't care either, but in the interest of debate I am reading some of these replies and simply shaking my head at the amount of apathy/bitterness this subject has evoked.

I'm going to reserve my pearl necklace for a better breed of swine.

That is no way to treat a Tamworth. Sick

And actually by extension you're own stuff Ben, so was Missing Scene shit with false praise heaped on it?

Well Missing Scene is full of obvious flaws, but it was often a case of the emperors new clothes when Bussell put stuff up with production values. Anyway, I think that was in Showcase and not Critique.

You've taken my point to be rather sweeping, Sooty. I did indicate there had been decent things put up at some point.

Quote: Ben @ October 7 2013, 2:14 PM BST

Critique has always been awful.

Sweeping?

Quote: Ben @ October 7 2013, 2:14 PM BST

Critique Maybe there was a phase when there were slightly better things being posted and some good advice, but it was a fleeting phase at most.

You are the king of big hearted gestures.

Seriously though I am sick and tired of this
"everything in critique is shit and all the criticism is either insane ,character, assassination or sycophant bollox"

Really you know on this one f**k off (not you in particular Ben).

Some people come here to get feedback on a project they're genuinely interested in. And this nidgering, miserable whine is just irritating.

Critique seems to hit most of the time a fairly amiable average of quality, both in terms of writing and feedback.

This self indulgent moaning, says far more about the moaners than the writers.

Agreeing with Sooty really f**ks my day up but when he's right he's right so I agree with him.
(I will now wash my eyes in vinegar to appease the writing gods)

Laughing out loud Keep that dictionary close!

Laughing out loud Keep that dictionary closed!

I've posted stuff up that's been part of succesful podcasts, had big laughs at read throughs, been sold and been through multiple runs on stage shows. And some of it's been optioned and paid for and hopefully one day, will get funded to actually be filmed.

So no it's not all shit. It is demoralising too hear. And lets be honest the fastest to say,

"It's all shit"

are those with no credits or invisible credits or who paid themselves to ge they're own stuff produced.

I seem to remember the Perry's of this world with real success tended to be amongst the most generous and thoughtful critics.

As for you who've known neither failure, nor success. Why don't you take your sense of inadequacy along with your failure and bury it in the back garden, along with all the cat turds.

That gets a :D ok a grudging Laughing out loud

Soots, sorry, but who exactly are you arguing with at the moment?

Praise from the flat land Banjo society is high praise indeed.

In part you old chap.
