When/Why did the BCG become so dull & lifeless? Page 16

Idealism is great when you're young, but when you've got more decades under your belt (or hopefully sooner), you'll realise that all is hypocrisy and that you are just as much a part of the hypocrisy as the next person.

Sorry - that's a load of sad shite. I'm in my 60's and still haven't given up on the human race. Life can be bloody hard but there's so much good in human beings that there's always hope for the future.

60s ?

I'd got you down as a forty something !

That's my immaturity showing. Laughing out loud

Prey sighted.

Well, I don't see it, myself. Maybe if I had a look down that highland tunnel you live in?

Might surprise you to know there's more to Scotland than the Highlands. Another of your misconceptions.

Scots Clan sweets, divine, we used to get them in Ireland but not seen them here, do you have them where you are keewik?

Well, I'm glad my little thread - which I posted in a particularly morose moment - didn't attract any interest...

Firstly, apologies to those I offended - notably Oldrocker - I was having a Bad Day in British Comedy - the BBC had not commissioned one of my sitcoms... you know how it is...

No excuse.

Point is, I used to love this place. And still do, although I've posted here only rarely. A place to laugh, a place to vent... I've laughed so much whilst on this forum. Anyway, that doesn't really matter...

Why this thread has turned into a debate about sexual equality, I'm not really certain - but then most threads on the internet mutate into a racism/sexism debacle at some stage.

So, in summary, sorry to have caused any controversy or trouble. I think most of the people on here are probably lovely, by the way. Myself included. Hence, for one time only, I'm posting a picture of me and my twin daughters.

I'm just a friendly, nice Dad in real life. I'm sure most of the BCG are lovely and normal too. My point was about the level of our debate, not about the members involved. I'm not a nasty person, I just thought the BCG has become stale. Not due to those involved, but by the state of British comedy.

Anyway, apologies.

(Except to Godot, who wouldn't accept them, even if offered.)

Love and peace and other meaningless phrases.

That photo is lovely, Tim. :)

Agreed!

Aww, pretty.
Nice use of the 'I'm not horrible, I have lovely daughters' defence. ;)

To be honest, I've never heard of them. That's a puzzle.

I don't use that as my defence. The point was that we're all (probably) nice people.

I know you are, for example.

Might surprise you to know it was a metaphor.

Might surprise you to know I think that sounds like a pompous cop-out.

I believe the children are our future...

*sniggers, whilst putting clauses in my will*

But it could be argued that it has all been a self-indulgent ego trip?

If that were to be the case, it clearly dominated the rest of proceedings.

Well done!
