I will be going to the recording tonight. Not because I think one of my sketches will get in but so I can say I went to RADA.

Quote: groovydude89 @ September 25 2013, 3:17 PM BSTMy sketches were about Slutgate, Ed Miliband being implicated in the Damian McBride controversy and online exams.
I did slutgate too, plus red squirrels, and the new iPhone.

Yep I'll be there too tonight. It's a smaller bar beforehand so if anyone is there do feel free to say hi to the 2-3 blokes in the corner.

I got there but didn't get in. Apparently they issued the standard number of tickets but there are 100 fewer seats.
I'm down a train fare, an M&S sandwich and some shoe leather. And my RADA joke backfired. Sheesh!

I liked your RADA joke

This is why I've never made it to a recording. My material rarely makes it in the show, I'm not gambling a (medium/long distance) train ticket on me personally gaining entry.
Sent in two sketches this week on computer based bank robberies, and iphone security problems. Might try your pocket system Park Bench - get more variety then the technology section on things I can be bothered to write to evernote.
I also liked your rada joke Mike. Bit of a bummer that you didn't get in, shame they don't make allowances for people who have travelled a fair bit.
Quite id have to get over myself to attend
And that's a massive journey
Thanks Bonzo and Badge.
We got there about 15 minutes after doors open and there were already people with stand-by tickets.
I genuinely think they didn't adjust the allocation to account for the smaller venue.
I will now tell people I'm a maverick. RADA wouldn't let me in. I'm too street.
Given it was at RADA, could you not just have pretended to be a tree so everyone assumed you were a student there?
Why is the Royal Association of Devious Arseholes hosting this anyway ? Eh?

That's a shame. This series tickets have gone crazy for Newsjack. I remember the first recording I went to in Series 2 I got tickets on the night and there were only about 5 rows of people there. Granted that was a 'snow' week so transport had gone crazy but now they're issuing standby tickets for Newsjack recordings, even at BBC Radio Theatre (and I rarely seen them issue standby tickets there).
I got there at 6:15 (door opening time) and it was queued round the block. I was about number 140 in the queue already. And last week at Radio Theatre there were a lot of standby tickets too. The rule is come early, Newsjack is very popular these days!
Anyone know if this is reflected in higher listening figures / downloads?
Should also say it was worth it as I and two others I know had one-liners in last night show. That's the first thing of mine I've ever had recorded at RADA. Here's hoping to make it over the finishing line later today.

Good luck on the cut.
Any other half-remembered sketches/one-liners to raise and dash hopes?

I have tickets for next week too so I will get there 3 hours before, get steamed up and then thrown out.
Hey, it's very good that it's popular - they'll make more.
Being a one-off at RADA though does make it slightly more disappointing that we didn't get in.
Oh well, back my normal Thursday afternoon activity - refreshing my email.
Well done for getting the one-liners in!
Mike
