Lawyers eh

2 CARS HAVE HAD A SLIGHT BUMP IN THE ROAD ARTHUR PILCHARD AND TOBY SALMON STAND DISCUSSING INSURANCE DETAILS

ARTHUR
Look I admit it's my fault, but if we swop details it's only the insurance companies that win.

TOBY
But it's the right thing to do.

ARTHUR
C'mon I can give you £200 right now that's more then enough for.....eurrrggghhhhh!

ARTHUR FALLS TO THE GROUND, HIS BACK ARCHES IMPOSSIBLY AND THEN BLOOD SPEWS FROM HIS ABDOMEN AS A SMALL ALIEN (LIKE IN THE FILM ALIEN) RIPS ITS WAY OUT OF HIS STOMACH.
ARTHUR DIES IN A POOL OF HIS OWN BLOOD AND GORE.
THE ALIEN ADVANCES ON TOBY

TOBY
Eek, don't kill me.

THE ALIEN HANDS TOBY A PIECE OF PAPER IT WAS CONCEALING AND THEN RUNS OFF.
TOBY READS THE PIECE OF PAPER

TOBY
He's suing me, but the accident was his fault!

VO
Injury lawyers in you, you never know when you'll need a lawyer.

Eh?

I am not at all sure I get this one.

The alien was inside of him, so its a lawyer in you

as opposed to injury lawyers for you

Ah, I actually missed that. A case of reading what you expect the words to say rather than what is written.

Tim what's the beef, Arthur pilchard is based on a dear personal friend whose dying wish was to be featured in most of my sketches

Hes not dead, he's actually doing quite well and is frankly quite sick of the sketches

The chestbursting scene is a moment of colossal genius, but the injury lawyer's pun payoff is like a kick in the balls from Didier Drogba.

Find another reason for the chestbursting and you're onto something.

Great idea. Taking the blame culture to the extreme that you would have a lawyer in the form of an alien inside you, just in case. Great imigary. Dark and a bit weird .... I like it. I actually think you could have made a bit more of the alien character... Maybe actually saying something and intimidating Toby Salmon further as opposed to just running off ?

Interesting so a strong build up to a weak punch?

I think it's not really improvable on, once the alien starts talking it runs past the punchline/

Thanks for the feedback but this ones going into the vault

I liked it.

The chestbursting scene is a moment of colossal genius

Why was it?

Haha, I really like this. Can you make the alien a bit more lawyer-y though? I'm not sure how, exactly, give him a briefcase or something. See what I mean?

And I like the punch "Injury lawyers in you", but think you could replace 'you never know when you need a lawyer' to something funnier. I'm still hungover and can't think right now, but I saw this sketch as the lawyer kind of trying to make money from the situation without even the consent of his client. It's like lawyers hiding in wait of an opportunity for profit. So I would base the punchline around that, if that made sense?

I think the intro is funnier than the punch which is a problem

It's kind of a surprise sketch, in that the first few exchanges are deliberately mundane and then whammmy./

But where does it end?
