This is critique at it's most pointless.

* its.

I think you should curb the judgmental declarations as you risk coming across as smug. The debate over whether to use "wake week" or "the holidays shutdown" was enlightening, partly as I was hitherto unfamiliar with "wake week" - which apparently should be "wakes week" - originally a Christian (or pagan) holiday period with a focus on fun, such as dancing and drinking, and later, trips to the seaside: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wakes_week

Sorry for cottering on here. I know that strikes by trade unions were big in the 70s and early 80s in the UK. Are they making a comeback now, with a Conservative government making spending cuts? Are the trade unions run by good folk defending a fair deal for Joe Average? Or are they run by mafia-like scum, whose greed and ego can lead to catastrophe, such as the cancellation of Shada?

The credit for crushing the trade union usually goes to Maggie Thatcher, but like most of her successes it was more down to dumb luck and timing; the impact of new technology and globalisation, followed by recession, has completely drawn the teeth of the unions, and the progress made in workers rights and conditions since the war is slowly being rolled back. Those unions that have been able to resist change, such as the rail drivers, however, remain as irresponsible as ever.

The sketch was intended as silly rather than satirical. :(

Indeed. Bucket and spade wielding robots.
