Scripting a daydream sequence Page 5

As to how you'd do the kind of Reggie Perrin 'Mother-in-Law as Hippo' sort of flash-frame, I don't know.

I'd call it a CUTAWAY, within the same scene. I may be technically wrong in doing this, but we haven't been told off for it in about 10 broadcast scripts.

Similarly, for reference, we use 'WE' in descriptions quite a bit, and they haven't ever slapped our wrists. I think it's quite clear in context what that means.

And in some cases we get told off for NOT putting in camera directions. Eg. if your gag requires a CRASH ZOOM then put it in, or it's not clear what the gag is.

Horses for courses and your mileage may vary obviously.

Interesting.
Sounds like a TV v Film thing, to me.
CUTAWAY is good though.
I tend to use 'We' a lot too - my background in adland, I guess.
" We open on desert island..."
