Marmite love the advert or hate it?

Read this on the BBC website today:

I Love the advert I thought it was very clever and as it worked out it played well on the love/hate thing as obviously some people hated it:

Here is the advert:

It's definitely odd.

It's definitely odd.

......and very long.

The timing is poor. The criticism has focussed on animal welfare but it is days after the news on Daniel Pelka etc. I think the "love it or hate it" ad machine has deliberately waded into the area of taste as in "is it appropriate?". The advert is original. What produced it could be said to be cynical to the point of sinister.

Yes it's definitely too long.

I keep meaning to try Marmite but never get around to it. I've tasted via knife but even the smell was too much to fully appreciate taste.

Really?

I love it!

A long time ago,as a result of AJGO's persuasion, I bought a jar of Marmite, but could never pluck up the courage to taste it. Found it at the back of the cupboard a few months ago and it went in the bin. Angry

Start with marmite soldiers.

As I've written posts on this thread, it has become clear to me what is wrong with the advert. It isn't that it trivialises animal welfare. It is that they are saying to non-consumers that they are terribly neglectful people. It is one step away from saying that, if they don't buy a certain product, they are mass murderers.

I thought it was very like something Chris Morris would do, I like Chris Morris. I hate marmite

Hater's gonna hate.

The advert's weird, but not offensive, people need to get a sense of proportion. No Marmite was harmed during the filming.

But one is TV and the other advertising.

Plus it's bloody gloomy.

There isn't even a sense of joy in the rescue!

I thought it had the same sense of humour as a Brass Eye program, real/not real

And it is to long

I think your films are several thousands times better.

That's my final answer.

Ta. :)

Thank you, and a good final answer that was. Cheers

Really?

I used to use it as an ingredient in things to make them more "meaty" tasting.
