Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush

Here We Go Round the Mulberry Bush is a 1967 British film made based on the novel of the same name by Hunter Davies. It was listed to compete at the 1968 Cannes Film Festival, but the festival was cancelled due to the events of May 1968 in France.

The film starred Barry Evans, Judy Geeson and Angela Scoular and was directed by Clive Donner.

The film was released on DVD officially for the first time by the BFI in September 2010 as part of its "Flipside" strand.

It is a very good film and great line up of cast

what are your thoughts about this film?

Probably the best thing the late Barry Evans was in, imo. You've undersold this one if anything. Although obscure now next to other 60s Britflicks, Alfie, The Knack, HWGRTMB is a very light sex comedy/drama in the same mould, revelling in the unfolding 60s permissiveness and with this one, 67's summer of love, although Hemmel Hemstead is not quite San Francisco.

The oddly chosen non iconic swinging London setting and non star billing, sorry Barry, secured its relative obscurity, even after favourable critical response. However, it is enjoyable stuff more or less in the later Gregory's Girl vein, with a good 60s soundtrack by Traffic. Gleeson does get her norks out, its very near the end but they are worth waiting for, by mamory. An interesting 'little' slice of 60s nostalgia this for anyone so inclined.
