Any joke writing exercises?

a joke writing exercise is a method of writing jokes. There are a few in ''the serious guide to joke writing'' and ''be a great stand up''. Does anyone have any personal joke writing exercises? I'll share a few of mine later. Wave

Lots.

1 Start at the punchline and work backwards.

2 Ask questions and answers them

3 The most important just get the joke on paper and chisel away excess words.

Get phrases or sayings & try to give them a punchline.
Or do the same with a list of random facts

Mainly write as many as you can on a subject.

Then pick the best ones, then edit them and then try and link them.

Get phrases or sayings & try to give them a punchline.

Even easier. Take a proverb and work out something that can make the proverb the punchline.

Example:

I really shouldn't have chucked Ronnie Wood and Mick Jagger through the windows of a famous minimalist composer's apartments in London and New York last month.....because people who live in Glass houses shouldn't throw stones.

Tweet of the week on Chortle and The Huffington Post will be yours in no time.

Come up with a joke with the following punchlines...

Of course, it hurts when I sit down.

"Look I just fancied the pig all right?"

Walk faster and remember to wash your hands.

She was only a bottled blonde and so therefore did not correspond to the stereotype, thus ruining the joke...
