So I went to the shop today and ended up buying Last of the Summer Wine series 11-18 because they were on special. I nervously walk to the chekout, knowing why I usually rely on internet shopping for these purchases. With the DVDs close to my chest while in the queue I get to the elderly checkout lady who looks at me quizzically.
"Is it your Dad's birthday coming up" she asks.
"No", I reply, "These are for me"
"Oh" she retorts. "That surprises me. I bought Steptoe and Son the other day. Though, you'll be too young to know about that."
"No, no, no, no, no" (not in a Jim Trott way I hasten to add) I say, shaking my head. "I love Harold and Albert, 'You dirty old man'"
"Hahaha" she chuckles."Very good. You've made my day, enjoy yours"
And I did. What I envisaged may be social embarrassment ended in making one old lady laugh. You can't put a price on that.
