BCG Fantasy Premier League 2013/14 Page 27

Don't do yourself down Don, you might catch Rob yet.

Why is Badge beating me, even though he's putting in ridiculous, additional, self-imposed rules!??

Dan

Because he's a footballing genius? Bog standard lucky? Sleeping with one of the Fantasy Premier League's moderators? I'm going for the latter.

Just seen league table. Early days but wheat already separating from chaff. Princes and paupers emerging.

Seams to be a break away of two with Gerry leading the chasing pack. I may have shot my bolt. To stay where I am I've had to play my wildcard. Not good. Can see having a few issues in the near future.

roscoff, did you watch last night's game? A good'un. I asked you some stuff before the game, if you care to scroll back a page, and you can also marvel at my powers of prediction. :)

Hey roscoff, how do you feel about tonight's game?

I think the Swans will win, or get at least a draw.

Must be a bit weird for you though with two Liverpool players in your FF line-up, or do you ignore all that once the game starts?

I have Michu & Vorm, with Johnson out injured. Hope it's a cracking game.

Shelvey still has a lot to prove, but at the end of the day Laudrup must have seen some raw talent there that he thinks he can develop, and I'd always give him the benefit of doubt.

Flukey :) Like Liverpool's goals!

I'd rather Swansea do well than my Fantasy Team. That is the real world. Or is it??????

The real world? What's that? ;)

Would you pick any Cardiff players?

He got awarded 12 points (1 goal + 1 assist), and was only penalised for his yellow card.

In other news, I drew 45-45 in my H2H this week against a player who totally changed his team with a Wildcard, so that seems like a decent result!

You better believe it baby.

The wildcard is there to be abused.

So I did.

Knowing me, I'll end up saving my 2 wildcards for next season. ;)

I only finished my 2 Easter eggs at the end of July. And that was because the "Best Before" date was about to pass.

It's way too early to think that Ross. It's been an very unusually low scoring start to the season. Add to that many of the goals have come have come from unknown players and not forwards.

I've fielded a front heavy team and have suffered as a result. You have to be nimble and spot what's happening but there's still a lot of luck involved. Rob H captained Benteke week1 away to Arsenal and got 36pts. Most people wouldn't have felt comfortable doing that.

No-one's got a convincing team on here yet. Gerry's midfield is a disaster. Everton and Chelsea defenders have put most of you where you are. Not having either is the reason I'm behind.

I have Cowie as a sub. I'm not a died in the wool Jack. I'm Welsh so I support any team that comes from this neck of the woods. But I prefer Swansea purely on style alone. Cardiff statistically play the long ball more than anyone else. Poor in my opinion. Geographically the Swans are further away. But what the hell. Half Man Utd supporters live in Japan.

You're right in many ways. I had Benteke as captain purely because Villa had two games that game week. I also had a funny feeling that Arsenal would struggle against Villa, and Benteke in particular. I had a small wager to that effect (and an even smaller amount on the double with Fulham to win away) and ended up £100 richer. The first few games of the season throw up a few odd results.

Anyway, I am historically useless at Fantasy Football, and am fully expecting to plummet some time very soon. It's Fulham Chelsea this week, and I felt more than a smidge of self-loathing as I left my Chelsea defenders in. Damn you for making me the worst kind of hypocrite, fantasy football, damn you. *shakes fist*

(Whispers) Can somebody please explain what a wild card is?

You can make unlimited transfers in a week with no points deductions.
Everyone has one, and you get another in Jan but it only lasts a week or two

Have more faith. I've put my mortgage on you whipping our arses.

The Rovers got off to an unlucky start. Arsenal and Swansea bombed on Day One. Players who were scoring 1 goal in every 2-3 matches last year achieved only 0-1 in the first four of this one. Berbatov, in particular, has been dire. And then the unexpected arrival of Ozil and the Cazorla injury complicated matters further.

We also made some strategic mistakes. Stuff about the weighting in different areas of the pitch, players on rotation and especially using the wild card early. Plus the decision not to field players of certain teams was too rigidly applied. It probably isn't likely that points will stack up when 5 of the top 7 clubs are no go areas.

Last week, we lost over 50 points in transfers. Our overall total is 13 down on the previous week. This week we will lose over 70 points in transfers as it was clear that the strategy still wasn't right. Now we think it is pretty much "there" but only after a lot of frustrating chop and change. Ironically, a random selection chosen on behalf of a relative in Week 3 is doing better. So you also have to have the grain going with you.

The cost of the transfers is about 4 points per week across the entire season. In time, it should hopefully have been worth it. Without taking action at this stage, we'd have been losing 10-40 points each week.

Only free weekly transfers and the odd extra transfer will now be permitted until January. As it happens, the new 15 which will be revealed on Saturday still does not include players from Man Utd, Liverpool, Chelsea or Tottenham. There remains a commitment not to include Man Utd players this year. It will now be a very long haul back but it is still early days and we do have quite a few rabbits that can be pulled out of the hat.
