I love a good cliffhanger. :D

OK , the programme is to hand!

Brace yourself George !

It was the 1964 tour. Don't know the date as it was a programme for the whole tour:

Willie Dixon
Sunnyland Slim
Hubert Sumlin
Lightning Hopkigs (signed)
John Henry Barbee
Sleepy John Estes
Hammie Nixon
Sugar Pie Desanto
Sonny Boy Williamson
Howlin' Wolf
Clifton James (signed)

The programme itself is perfect. No creases or folds and even the staples are still shiny !

Sort of puts One Direction into perspective as if that were needed anyway!

Cool!

Presumably it was a one day event?

Can you remember the ticket price?

Roughly how many in the audience/crowd?

Any particular favourite performers?

I bet there were a few stars of the future in the crowd, members of Quo, Roy Wood, Robert Plant would have been around 15/16 then etc.

Shiny staples too! Maybe that's over-egging things? Laughing out loud

Going back to Glastonbury for a mo', just done some research into that Steve Mason guy.

Turns out he used to be in the Beta Band, who I remember liking when I saw them on "Later". Been listening to his Glastonbury set quite a bit.

Cool!

Presumably it was a one day event? Evening concert. Some of those mentioned formed Howlin' Wolf's backing band.

Can you remember the ticket price? Wouldn't have been more than 10/- (50p)

Roughly how many in the audience/crowd? Full house at BTH so 1500/2000?

Any particular favourite performers? Sonny Boy, Lightnin'

I bet there were a few stars of the future in the crowd, members of Quo, Roy Wood, Robert Plant would have been around 15/16 then etc. Probably. Wikip lists some at the Manchester night.I wonder in any members of Black Sabbath were there? Home town gig

Shiny staples too! Maybe that's over-egging things? Laughing out loud

:D

Footage is still up, but maybe not for much longer?

Watching PiL's set now:

Resuscitating 2010's thread felt like taking eco-friendliness to an extreme.

What a great thread. Nick Cave was very good, among many others. I will want to have a look at the clips included. On ones not mentioned, the rapping up of Mas Que Nada by the Sergio Mendes crew would be most politely described as "fun". He, though, is a real stayer. There must also be a mention for this guy -

I find that West Holts stage, which used to be named, not entirely accurately, Jazz World a little bland for much of the day. Later, it's often the key place to be for atmosphere. The night Solomon Burke performed, it was rather like the following clip. It being so incredibly moving and memorable, I felt privileged to be there.

Very nice!

My intro to Solomon was when I bought this album on vinyl around 1980, and first hearing the track "Keep Looking".

Always enjoyed Solomon's appearances on Jools Holland's "Later", such as this one:

Yes, I enjoyed that too. Guess we can do one more Solomon Burke song here without turning it into a thread about him. This is one of my favourites. I particularly like the title because it is a bit offbeat.

I also find it fascinating because I'm sure he doesn't actually sing "electronic". It sounds to me like "electro phonic". If anyone can say why that should be, if it is, or what he is singing if it isn't, I'd be interested.

Solomon in sexy beast mode there. :)

Look out for this prog in case it gets repeated if you didn't catch it at the beginning of June on BBC4:

Though no Solomon in the line-up.

Might still be on DVD too.

They screened a really good documentary about Otis then too.

A good one but I missed it.

The Reverend fathered at least 21 children and had 90 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren at the time of his death. You'd have thought at least one would be able to produce something good. I understand that several are in, quote, neo-soul which may not be too great, especially if they are overdosing on melisma. Still, Melanie, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, Gemini or King Solomon Haile Selassie Burke could yet surprise us.

That's nearly as impressive as Sooty The Love Machine. :D
