Have you done a status map?

I don't know what that is :(

Making Charles and Ellie siblings would certainly give another dynamic to the plot.

I thought making Ellie and criminal Jamie brother and sister, but I decided it would be a bit too neat. So they are just childhood friends instead.

I was affecting to take a facile comment seriously for purposes of sarkiness. ;)

JAMIE SHOWS HER A LARGE PICTURE OF ELLIE ADJUSTING HER TIGHTS. HER BOTTOM TAKES UP 3/4 OF THE PAGE.

SHE'S HORRIFIED.

CHARLES SMILES TO HIMSELF.

What does Charles say? What is that final line? I have no clue yet.

I've got it!
how about

CHARLES
I'd like to see her prosecute me with those briefs!

Why not start punting a synopsis and first 2 scenes about? This will be polished so much with all this input there will be nothing left.Try it!Don't be shy! They(production companies) don't want a finished script. They want to think their brilliant guidance and experience turned a turd into a jewel. They've got even bigger egos than all of us eejits here.Pander to them.

Yes they are all looking for turds. It's how it works :)

No.
What they want is really, really good writers.
Not sure how an unpolished script is going to help.

I'm presuming from your general tone across several threads that you have not had the best of times with producers?
They're not all like that - promise - and your advice is a little misleading.

I agree. It is both encouraging and depressing at the same time!

I guess Jaicee's point is that you can only polish something so far before you let it make its own way in the big bad world.

You certainly need to have a finished script not just an outline and a couple of scenes. People want cake not recipes when they are hungry.

Ooh cake. What if I turned up with two scenes, an outline, and my secret recipe Lemon Drizzle?

People don't want outlines, story suggestions for further eps to demonstrate legs maybe. Lemon Drizzle is too feminine as well, might as well suggest cup cakes. I recommend a good dark fruit cake, that has been regularly fed with brandy and maybe marzipan on it depending on the season.

You're very aphoristic recently!

Aphorisms are my bread and butter. ;)

How is Lemon Drizzle feminine? I used to work with builders and plumbers. I made them my Lemon Drizzle every week and they loved it. I like your thinking though - get them drunk on cake so they can't see the flaws in my script. Sneaky.

It just sounds it :)

Producer: Do you eat dark fruit cakes?

Writer: When I have them, master.

Producer: Do you eat lemon drizzle cakes?

Writer: No, master.

Producer: Do you consider the eating of dark fruit cakes to be moral and the eating of lemon drizzle cakes to be immoral?

Writer: No, master.

Producer: Of course not. It is all a matter of taste, isn't it?

Writer: Yes, master.

Producer: And taste is not the same as appetite, and therefore not a question of morals.

Writer: It could be argued so, master.

Producer: My taste includes both lemon drizzle cakes and dark fruit cakes.
