Amazon Pilots

Some of the writers among us may remember Amazon having a sitcom opportunity. I assume the pilots they've filmed and are showing (via LoveFilm) are from this original opportunity (I have no proof).

All eight comedy pilots are here and available until the 19th (though why this is is irritating -- can't they just leave them up there for all to view?) http://www.lovefilm.com/c/?m=d&token=%253Fu%253D%25252Fcatalog%25252Fvideo%25253Ff%25253Dcollection_id%2525257C10607%2526m%253DGET

Weren't these from a separate American contest? Or were they inviting global entrants for the one initiative?

Aside: my first experience of LoveFilm. What utterly, utterly atrocious picture quality.

No, it seemed to be a single global initiative. Certainly when I posted about the opp originally, I was searching for a 'non-US writers need not apply clause' and couldn't find one.

I assume that's an ongoing call for scripts anyway, rather than a one-off. There didn't seem to be any deadline.

I watched the one about the teachers. It was okay, a little bit crude and not in a good way.

I looked hard at that then decided it was all a bit too complicated for me to bother. I think the fact that all 8 winners are American shows they haven't changed one bit over there, so I'm glad I didn't waste my time.

I liked the animated one best. The others (I viewed) were a bit too slick for my taste. Very American.
