Olivia Colman Page 3

Laughing out loud I won't!

She disappeared for vast chunks of the last series of Twenty Twelve, didn't she? Surprised she got a Bafta for essentially a smallish supporting role.

Yes so am I. I liked 2012 and thought it deserved its gong. But I thought if anyone deserved the best actress nom it would be the blonde one, forget her name, more of a comedy performing actress. 'Way to go' and all that. I think of her and not the others when I think of 2012. Also a writer I believe.

Colman I find a good actor/actress but an actor/actress.

I don't really "get" the Colman love.

She's been good in all the stuff I've seen her in, but so have loads of other people.

What's the special attraction? Am I missing something?

I would say she's hit her ultimate exposure target. She's been good in many different roles for a few years now and now she's widely recognised. That'll trigger all the award givers to reward her, or 'bring her in' as they say in entertainment land.

Still with you though, don't think she's quite a Wood or a Walters. Not that any of this stuff interests me, we gorge too much on this in this country and not enough on producing interesting new work or new writers.

Miss actually, but don't let that stop you being an obnoxious little twit. :)

Technically all females are ms's, even ladies, dames, reverends and doctors.

Where do you get that from?

Ms sounds funny in my mouth. Mocking.

You must stop eating women, chip.

:O

Filth.

Ms can mean Miss or Mrs.

Hmm, but does it mean Dr. etc like you said earlier?
Anyway, I'd say we're all whatever we prefer to call ourselves, and let's not make a big deal out of it.

And even more importantly, let's get back to Olivia Colman.

(Prepares for the inevitable backlash ...)

Olivia Colman is a very talented performer and has starred in a huge breadth of roles within the last decade or so. That said, I'm getting rather fed up of seeing her pop up on my tellybox.

I'm not sick of her just yet.

I am very much enjoying Flowers at the moment, too!

I didn't watch that thing with that Tom/Tim dude in it that everyone fancies. So I haven't overdosed on her recently.

I guess that it must always be difficult for actors not to jump at work when it's offered, due to the precarious nature of their industry?

Yeah, I guess she's got to keep her kids in shoes. And she just had another one. She'll have to be on screen for at least another 18 years. :O

That's true! They were talking about a £300 pair of 'Heritage' Clarks shoes on Mumsnet!

zooo, you've missed out if not, (and yes I admit I'm one of the Tom fanciers, phoorrr and all that!) but Olivia was great in it, though we didn't see enough of her, when she is on screen she's always so watchable.

Might catch Flowers on catch up as I wasn't that aware it was on.
