I hope I'm not sounding like an old man here, but I am sick 2 death of hearing the phrase LOL (Means Laugh out Loud). It is a horrible word and people are forever using it on myspace and on this site. Please people stop using it. If the next response to this is LOL I will go mad.
LOL
Laugh out Loud.
LMAO
Jesus - I thought it meant lots of love !
I agree with your sentiment entirely.

"Lol" is one of the greatest words/phrases to have been created and adopted into the English language in the past 25 years.

Erm... sorrry, nah! Unless the moderators ban its use, naturally.
I think it's the least annoying of all the internetisms.
As a more sarcastic alternative to LOL, why not try ILOTI
(I'm laughing on the inside)
Am I the only one who actually says "lol" in real life?
Yes.
Lol.

And this from one of the most neo-conservative of linguists.
I use lol a lot. I'm giggley in real life so it fits.
A replacement for lol? Might I suggest, 'I'm ACTUALLY laughing quite out loud at this juncture, hem hem hem hem!'. Nah, I'll stick to LOL but remeber, Jack, it's not real speech, it's an abbreviation which matches its context. HYBL (Hush ya batty lips).
I love a good lol!
