Great man who brought us great music. Very sad.

Yes very sad news.

Being from Manchester I am a big fan of the Happy Mondays and he did alot for Manchester music. His set up of the Hacienda Club (now infamous) did alot for music. Has anyone ever seen: 24 hour Party People?

Tony Wilson RIP

I'm sad too. If you live in the north west you'll be familiar with his earnest local news reports. A real character.

I remember So it goes! in about 1976. I think it was the first time Sex Pistols had played on TV.

Gonna watch 24 Hour Party People in rememberance. Its a great movie by the way.

I grew up watching him on Granada Reports in Manchester and always liked him. RIP

A Manchester icon for sure, Joy Divisions my favourite band and probably always will be. Thanks for the music man.

He just turned up unexpectedly in A Cock & Bull Story.

yes.it was 1976.......first time on TV for the Pistols...next appearance was on the infamous Bill Grundy show on London Weekend.......was going to see them at Derby on the Anarchy tour, but spineless local councillors cancelled it....saw the Clash at Nottingham Astoria at about the same time.....supported by the Buzzcocks..........the Jam should have been on as well, but pulled out due to a falling out over use of a PA system............happy days....

I thought the script for '24 Hour Party People' was great, especially the dialogue for Steve Coogan, playing Tony Wilson. I've always found the scenario of a really intellingent person, being in a situation where he's/she's surrounded by much less intelligent people, to be really funny.

*just about refrains from comment*

It’s a great shame the man had to die before I got round to watching the film ,I just have. It’s a great film about a great man go watch it.

Remember him commenting after a lacklustre performance by New Order, standing in front of a bank of computers; "All of those machines were playing absolutely live."

RIP Tony Wilson.

I think I must be the only person who doesn't like 24 hour party people, the actors looked nothing like the musicians they were supposed to be. Ralf Little from 'The Royale Family' playing Peter Hook? I don't think so.

John Sim made a good Bernard Sumner I thought, and matey boy was a pretty good Shaun Ryder
