Good places for a first ever stand up gig?

Can anyone recommend a place that is good for doing your first ever stand up comedy gig? Scotland or England.

Frog and Bucket - Beat the Frog amateur stand up competition
there is one in manchester and preston

I did mine their last night and bombed but I am sure you will do better mate, good luck!

Comedy Virgins in the Cavendish Arms in Stockwell is brilliant. Very supportive atmosphere and a great room. You have to bring a friend though, or they won't let you perform. No entry fee, but they do brandish a bucket for donations at the end.

I did my first gig at the Lion's Den Comedy Car Crash and it was f**king awful.

Since I bombed on my first show like the people here (and I believe most people do) there probably isn't a 'good first show'.

MCharsley, why was comedy car crash bad for you? if you don't mind me asking. I performed there last Tuesday and thought it was ace, really good standard and good audience even if it was mostly acts in the audience.

In regards to the OP, if you are London based then there are loads, just make sure you can have a spot before you get there or if you can only register on the night get there early, also if you are based in a smaller place look for those little open mics in pubs etc that are just starting out as these tend to have audiences just happy that a person is performing for them and can be more friendly.
