Yes, I'm an email and text (and pay-as-you-go) person. if you phone somebody you might catch them at an awkward time and not get their full attention. With the written word, they gat a chance to think through what (lies?) to tell you.

Yes I prefer to be emailed instead of called. I literally can't think/decide things under pressure, even if it's something really simple.
Do you remember the archaic days where your contract only entitled you to use your free minutes on calls to the same network you were on? That was pretty awful.
Apropos this . . if I upgrade to a different manufacturer, can I take/download/save all my existing texts etc. to the new phone?
