Popetown

Has anyone heard of Popetown?

It was an animated sitcom which the BBC commissioned, but refused to broadcast following Catholic protests.

It has however been released on DVD over here, as well as being shown in several other countries.

There are some very familiar names among the cast:

Bob Mortimer - Father Nicholas
Ruby Wax - The Pope
Morwenna Banks - Sister Marie
Jerry Hall - Sister Penelope
Matt Lucas - Cardinal One
Kevin Eldon - Cardinal Two
Simon Greenall - Cardinal Three
Ben Miller - Priest

I haven't actually seen it yet, but I'm intrigued enough to check it out.

I'm looking into it now... *cough* Whistling nnocently

:)

My mate has the DVD and thought it was very funny.

A bit overpriced I would say.

It was pulled just a couple of days before broadcast, if I remember correctly. BBC Three. The BBC is too weak-willed for its own good sometimes.

It was dreadful. Tried hard to be edgy and cool but lacked good jokes. Good voice talent wasted in crap cartoon. Only managed the first two episodes and binned it.
