They made the film afterwards and he died six weeks after shooting finished.

Which film? Porridge?

No Going Straight.

Never heard of a Going Straight film.

It was not a film. A mini TV Series LOL.

Never heard of a Going Straight film.

That's because it was a Porridge film. See IMDB.

Yes, I thought so.

Exactly.

What do you mean by "exactly"? You were the one who said: "No, Going Straight". (See top of the page)

What was his best role? Seems from most articles over the decades it's generally reckoned to be Lenny Godber in Porridge, but for me it has to be Alan in Rising Damp, as he's quite a bit funnier in this and has more to do with RD's smaller cast. His role is more expansive as well, trying his luck with the odd bit of crumpet. His hair is also far funnier.

I think his best role was marrying Judy Loe.

I was about to start watching Bloomers

But apparently it is absolutely dreadful

As was Tripper's Day said to be, starring the great Leonard Rossiter or Hold the Sunset starring the great John Cleese, etc. Proving great scripts are more important than great actors to a show's success. If you combine both you get classics.
