HMV closing down

As most of you probably already know , HMV went into adminstration on 15th January 2013. I always used to love HMV as used to buy a lot of my Comedy DVDs from there but with it going bust , I will now have to get them online.

To be fair , the stores have suffered in recent years by placing more electronic goods in there to try and get more money. Sadly it appeared not to work.

Any other thoughts on this? :( Teary

They're only shutting sixty odd stores, so it's plodding on. At least for a bit. But DVD is certainly starting its death throes. Which is a shame as it's nice having something tangible you can hold in your hand or line up on a shelf.

Or lose in a house fire.

Yes I agree , it's okay buying them online but you can't actually hold in your hand and study it can you? it is a shame. :(

I refuse to give in to house fires.

Laughing out loud

If a product can be sold online, the traditional retailers of that product are f**ked. Even the 'big boys' of each individual product type (Jessops, HMV etc.) are in the shite.

Electronics seems to be hit the hardest though.

The business model of pissing money away on shop rent and retail staff seems to be inefficient, compared to storing everything ceiling-high in a warehouse somewhere.

The Supermarkets will then swallow up what ever else is left of the High Street (things you maybe wouldn't normally buy online - food, newspapers/magazines, clothes, cosmetics, toiletries).

F**k em

They've ripped me off enough over the years

Can't believe I used to spend like £14 on albums in there before amazon came along

Bye-bye

Yes , but in recent years . a lot of the products have been the same price as amazon.

I had a nice wander round my local HMV today, would hate to see it go, there's something comforting about going through the bargain CD's and the slap of the huge posters as you leaf through.
And I found a fab 'The Who' birthday card for my daughter, granted it was £2 which is about £1.50 more than my usual charity shop finds but 'who' cares on this occasion.

I couldn't agree more. I will miss HMV when it's gone fully though. :(

I nearly went in today, tempted by the up to 70% off posters, but I went in The Works and then forgot.

I nearly bought a KD Lang CD, but didn't and then nearly bought a disco compilation CD but didn't buy that either...damned indecision.
