A deep, dark, old corner of the Internet where one can find almost anything. It's where people go to download stuff with the least amount of worry about getting nabbed by the copyright police.

So you steal instead of buy?
Any links?
I've looked into it before, but it baffled me!

No, I can show you tens of thousands of dollars' worth of CDs, DVDs and software that I've purchased with my hard-earned money. But I can't, for instance, watch the latest BBC shows legally in any way. So I take advantage of what's available out there for free until the industry decides to give us what we're willing to pay for. As do many of the other posters here, I'm sure.

With the current amount of traffic (terabytes per day) you really need to subscribe to a Usenet service like easynews.com or giganews.com. Most offer a free trial, so check it out, read some FAQs and ask a savvy friend. I'd highly recommend something like SABNZBD, its Firefox plugin and a subscription to something like Newzbin.
It's complicated, but not all that difficult once you get the hang of it. It's 1000x easier to use than it was 10 years ago. Seek and ye shall find ...
Thanks DaButt, I shall check it out this very moment.

Cheers. If you're at all computer/Google savvy you should be able to figure it out without too much trouble. And if you have serious geek friends, ask them about Usenet and one of them can probably help you sort it out. As it stands, with a paid Usenet subscription and stuff like SABNZBD and a Newzbin.com subscription, all you really need is a username, password, server address and one or two configuration changes and it's almost automatic. If you can't find it on Usenet you probably can't find it anywhere. And, seeing as most people use it to download and not upload, it's much safer than peer-to-peer networks like torrents.
Cheers!
Is it safe to enter credit card info into these things? I'm going for a free trail, but it is of course asking me for a CC. To download legal, non-copyrighted things of course.

I've felt safe enough to use my CC with both easynews and giganews for the last several years. Easynews is nice because they have a Web interface, but I prefer Giganews. I think I can get a $20 credit if you sign up with them, so let me know if you're thinking about using them and I'll send you the link.
Not sure if there's a better option in the UK. I'm only familiar with Easynews and Giganews, but they're by far the best and most-reliable in the U.S.
I don't really need the $20, so if you end up signing with Giganews I'll PayPal the money back to you so you can buy a few pints.
Cheers!

As DaButt hinted at, you're working on the assumption that what we want to see, is available to buy.
Lee, your ISP may provide access to usenet servers.

Apparantly, this series will be focused on those who left the island and if they all return or not and the last will be everything that happens on the island while this is happening.
I am a Lost geek.
Cool, thanks Rubes.
Anybody watching 'John Adams' on Channel 4 on Saturdays? Tis very good.
Also saw repeat of ep 1 of Saxondale on Dave the other night. Still some very funny stuff in that.

So do you download the shows or watch them streaming?
Download.
