What are you watching on TV? Page 288

I just watched the weather report to catch up on the latest predictions for Hurricane Gustav. Looks like New Orleans is right in the projected path and I read that residents are stocking up on assault rifles. Guess they learned their lessons a few years ago.

*pops into head*

Laughing out loud Man that movie is funny. I think I'll rent it this week for old times sake. They were my favorite movies when I was a kid, although I was never allowed to watch Part 1 because it was rated R.

You can't beat Poirot. :)

*brandishes large stick*

Talking of sticks, 'Maestro' on BBC2 has been quite entertaining. A top end 'reality' show, I guess. With some really shit puns courtesy of Clive Anderson.

Should definitely be more posh, educated types on telly. Get rid of all the wannabe scum. Although I'll quite happily watch Big Brother if they have 'Russian Roulette' as a task.

I think Clive Anderson is a great presenter who sadly fell out of favour after telling the Beegees they were tossers. I have especially fond memories of him on that Friday night chatshow he did on Channel 4. Especially when he demolished Jeffrey Archer.

Ah yes. He did his very early shows with Tony Slattery, I seem to recall.

They have quite worryingly awakened some very weird urge in me to marry someone nice like Hugh Dennis and have a nice middleclass house and kids in a nice middleclass road in London though...

Aw, me too!

Well, y'know, not the Hugh Dennis bit.

He is, it bugs me how he's too lazy to 'act' another accent though. I mean, he hasn't lived in Scotland for years, but still has a heavy Scottish accent. Strange that.

And still feels the need (and legitimacy) to stick his nose into Scottish politics and campaign for independence.

They've made an American version now: http://uk.imdb.com/title/tt1206661/

Why do they have to do that??

Because the American audience (as a whole) is too obnoxious and obtuse to accept another country or culture on their screens beyond novelty value.

Oh, and they like long seasons.

It's out on DVD in October apparently (seems a long way away).

Where abouts are you in the Fatherland?

Between vineyards and breweries in the lovely town of Stuttgart.

You know you want him.

Well, maybe a little. But not so much his part of the 'dream' in this context.
