Improv done badly is truly horrific
I see it as more of a party trick.
Improvisation as a way of getting to a finished piece is very useful - writers like Mike Lee excel at it.
Bit it's a bit like having to watch the butcher make the sausage.
I'd rather just have the sausage.
Rarely does it produce something better than a piece of well-constructed comedy.
But....horse for courses, and each to his own...and sausages for all!

I'm getting ready to make some sausage in a few minutes; I could take photos. One of the best things about making your own sausage is that you know exactly what goes into it. I use quality cuts of beef and pork, not questionable body parts.
I love Mexican chorizo (makes great breakfast tacos), but who wants to eat it if its primary ingredients are salivary glands and lymph nodes? I make my own with actual cuts of pork.
