What are you watching on TV? Page 2,297

Steve Sunshine starring as the new Rebus.

"Turned Out Nice Again" with (of course) George Formby (singing Auntie Maggie's Remedy) and uncredited performances from Bill Shine, Michael Rennie & Wilfred Hyde-White.

Oz

And old HBO drama about prison life

Episode one and who pops up?

Marigold off of In Sickness and in Health

Bwana 😳

Trying to watch the Responder, Rebus and Blue Lights. I don't think I can handle more than one of these.

Can't handle one of them - police series? Boring! There's only so many ways you can present crime

Short season of Sir John Betjaman on BBC 4, and watched yet again "Metroland" - lost count of the times I have watched it, but it is such a sheer delight which I never tire of.
Out of curiosity I checked to see if there were any details of the fantastic organist who featured by having a full size cinema Wurlitzer organ (!!!) in his house, which he had specially built to accommodate the monster music maker - sadly, it turns out, he died only last November.

I like all of them, you have to concentrate with all the strong accents though. Liverpool, Scottish and Irish. I did have to put the subtitles on for Rebus, but that was more for the mumbling.

Pop Quiz on More 4 with Ken Bruce.

It used to be great on Radio 2 but now the questions are so obscure and too hard that it spoils the show.

For instance: What was the B side of Alvin Stardust's Coo ca choo? It wasn't a specialist round but a general question.

It's still on Greatest Hits Radio, although I don't know how obscure the questions are.

I don't watch it anymore for that very reason - not a general quiz, you have to be a pop history nut.

Twins!

A 1968 edition of the Avengers with the gorgeous Linda Thorsen. Amongst many villains it includes Stratford Johns and Ronal Lacey who always played creepy characters.

Also is that Jimmy Clitheroe? OK - no. Teddy Kiss Atom.

Smart Alec (1951) on Talking Pictures TV.

Two good old comedy actors - Leley Dwyer & Charles Hawtrey (as a detective sergeant no less). Plus two teachers (Messrs Quelch & Prout) from my old school, Greyfriars. What more could you want in a film?
