What are you watching on TV? Page 2,281

But no, the BBC who are broadcasting it but refused to make it, now seemingly don't even want to show it. There were reports they were so nervous of the response they thought about pulling out of the deal to broadcast it, then delayed the screening to apparently edit it down and now evidently don't want many people to see it, as I still haven't seen a single promotion ad for it, hence why I missed the first two eps.

I'll catch up on their iplayer where I see they've tried to hide it behind others

Every time I open iplayer it's the main suggestion of what to watch, covering most of the screen, so I don't think they're trying to hide it. I'm sick of seeing it!
I wish they had a thing to click if you're not interested in something so they would bloody hide it.

I only went on there today and had to scroll across the page to reveal the prog. and haven't seen a single promotion for it on the box. As someone who's Mum was a nurse at 'St Jimmy's' when Savile had his own key to the live in nurse's accommodation block and used to play in Roundhay park where he had his penthouse flat and used the same fish and chip shop as him I've always had an odd interest in the 'character'. The Astoria club which was just round the corner from us and passed by most days was where he first started as a DJ.

But I'm mostly interested in how or if the scandal of the BBC refusing to cancel their celebration of him in the light of the first allegations being published and then their own alleged cover up of his known about wrongdoings at the Beeb is going to be shown - including the million pound golden handshake 'sacking' of disgraced DG responsible who then ended up in charge of the NY Times.

I lived vaguely near Stoke Mandeville, so he was a localish celebrity. He was clearly a creepy freak who I never liked, and I heard warnings from people when I was a teenager like don't stand near him or he'll try to grope you, but I never imagined quite how sick he was.

He had a key there as well, where he apparently became darker in his deeds. I don't think today's woker generations realise how much this sort of thing was going on in the 70s and 80s by all kinds of 'respectable' people including celebrities and just allowed to go unchecked, you could almost say it was accepted behaviour.

When many priests and the odd MP were known to be at it with far younger people, and was something society hadn't got brave enough to condemn yet, it made the things Savile and others were doing seem more ordinary or acceptable. Just entirely different days before the onslaught of political correctness changed people's social attitudes towards formerly untouchable sectors of society.

Ghosts

Up to episode 3

Still not many laughs but I guess it's fairly entertaining

The scene where the scout master gets shot in the neck and then drives his minivan into a tree was quite funny!

He's is probably my favourite character

He has tons of funny lines. Maybe it gets funnier as you get to know the characters?

Maybe

It's just mildly humorous

I guess as a child of the 70's and 80's I was spoilt- back then all the best sitcoms weren't mildly humorous

They were BLOODY HILARIOUS!

Mildly humorous is a lot better than most of what is around today. And when you were a child probably things seemed funnier than they actually were.

I'm watching Mrs. Sidhu investigates. There was an actor I knew I'd seen somewhere but I couldn't place him so I searched on IMDB.

It turns out he was in my favourite film from 1984 , Top Secret.

Rising Damp - the prowler

One of my faves

Watching Pointless and a round on Massachusets. One clue was regarding the Bee Gees and I always thought it funny them singing a song with such a title.

Watching Stacey Solomon on Tipping Point and when she got to the last round and had to make a choice of gambling for £20,000 or nothing she said the worst line any celebrity can say in that situation on a game show for charity. "I'm going to gamble and if I lose I'll give the money to the charity myself". Big cheers from the audience and she went on to win the 20 grand but no mention of doubling up the winnings out of her own pocket to £40,000. Funny that.

I started to watch "Keep the Aspidistra Flying" last night as it starred the lovely Helena Bonham Carter. However I only gave it about 15 minutes. Just so slow and boring. I know it's an Orwell book but I couldn't see anything dynamic happening in the next 1 3/4 hours in spite of the cast.

Paris

An early sitcom by Linehan and Matthews starring Alexei Sayle

Sadly it's a steaming great pile of merde 💩

That Alan Carr thingy picture quiz, which is on BBC 1 early Sat. evening (quite good actually) and a picture of a dish came up that no one, including me, knew what it was - it turned out to be a Canadian dish (originally), which consisted of chips, cheese all smothered in gravy, called Poutine.

Heart attack on a plate, anybody?
