The Secret Genius of Modern Life with Hannah Fry

This week the bank card, and I have to say it was absolutely fascinating.

How it all started in America in the late 50s, how they are made, the security involved and the technology inside that thin card - the chip, the aerial. Mind boggling, which skirted around the involvement of the Theremin, the man who invented it and spent years in a Russian gulag, and the (now) hilarious gift the Russians gave to the various American embassy officials that used the same technology we have in the card today, to spy on the embassy - a gizmo that doesn't need its own power source.

Caught a bit of this myself. Looked a great explanation!

Nightingales with Robert Lindsay

Ah, good stuff! I remembered watching Nightingales when it was originally on TV in the early 1990s, then I don't think it was ever repeated (?) but I rewatched most of the episodes just recently on Yotube. Good news if they're finally showing it on TV again.

Ah no sorry it was just on DVD ?

Never mind, since you mentioned it's on DVD I looked online and it's only about six quid, so it might be a future purchase/Christmas pressie idea...

I don't think I've ever seen it before properly so I'm watching Carry on Columbus on TPTV.

Incredible. On the Chase, a person "of colour" thought the Windrush arrived in the 70s.

And also "Love is all you need" is NOT the title of a Beatles song.

Re-arrange these words into a well known phrase or saying.

To be fair, it is a line in the song though. It's not like they said Gangnam Style was a Beatles song.

Well the way they say some people's answers are wrong this is wrong.

I'm Alan Partridge

The Ged Maxwell episode

Absolutely hilarious - there is literally no let-up, just laugh after laugh

Jeeeez why can't they make sitcoms like this anymore?

"It's a Trap" Star Wars Jedi spoof in Family Guy.

Creased up with laughter even though I've seen it before.

At the start they had some text.

"I'm psychic. You're a guy watching this on your own - right?"

How do they know these things??????
