What are you watching on TV? Page 2,239

What are you watching on TV. That is a stupid question.

What are you watching on TV. That is a stupid question.

Glad you're watching it then.

Initially thought it was odd, that the two progs. I was watching on 'Yesterday', "Train Truckers" and "Bangers and Cash" didn't have adverts, but just a break with the UKTV logo floating across the screen.

Seems other channels are doing likewise.

"Bangers and Cash" I love, to see these classic cars and motorbikes from all decades of the 20th century, going under the hammer and the prices they fetch! There's been some seriously rare cars on offer, that don't always fetch their reserve, and it frustrates me that I haven't got the money or even the storage for some of these classics.

"Train Truckers" is a totally different kettle of fish, in that it's about this family firm of heavy haulage specialists who transport seriously big loads around the UK, and this current series highlights the transportation of railway engines.

The last two weeks have been about the moving of two 100 ton (!!) Deltic diesel engines, on a trailer that has 26 pairs of steerable wheels!!! , and they only have a police escort if they are going anywhere near a town, when it's found some bridge on the route is either too weak or not high enough.
Most of the time, they have two Hi-Viz vans front a back to warn the traffic - I find this absolutely fascinating, and despite being heavily chained to the trailer, it's amazing they don't tip off!!
And getting the engines on and off the trailer looks scary!!!

Watching the TV series Pistols, about the rise and fall of The Sex Pistols. The one that John Lyndon went to court to try and stop. Really enjoying it.

It's when he formed PiL that we saw what a great and innovative musician he is, in my opinion.

I shall watch it.
I bought a guitar and learned to play it just so I could play the Sex Pistols songs.
I learned Pretty Vacant by ear or by watching the videos.
There was no sheet music and Burt Weedon learn a song a day didn't cut it.

I learned Pretty Vacant by ear ...

Well, you're one up on poor old Sid, then!
?

Yeah, I noted in those days he seemed to be just playing one bass note.
The camera didn't linger so I couldn't be sure.

Of course glen Matlock co-wrote the bulk of the songs and played bass on most of the NMTB album - though this is disputed by Malcolm - but not by Johnny.
Some also say Jones played bass - so who knows?
He certainly was a pretty poor player.

I've probably said before, I went to their last ever UK gig. It wasn't known it was their last but it turned out it was.
Christmas day of all days.

Have you got the book?
You're probably in it.
Johnnys "Never Mind the Rich Kids...", T-shirt, obviously a dig at Matlock!
