It was on ITV, the normal one. Pretty good documentary. Catch it on ITV Player - weirdly, I have never used ITV Player to watch anything.

Watched Dr Christian from Embarassing Bodies try out gay cures.

He went to the US and met some crazy evangelical types. Then concluded he couldn't be cured.

Problem is, he doesn't want to be cured. Surely the success of any psychological therapy depends on the patient's willingness to change.

Now, I don't think homosexuality can be or should be cured. But Dr C framed it in a very "this is a science experiment - I'm totally neutral" way which I thought was quite disingenuous.

Turn abouts fair, most of these gay changers claim to be able to work on anyone.

And are happy to work with people who've practically been kidnapped if not at least severely bullied.

It worried me to see young people coming out of churches saying that homosexuality is the work of demons. Even Dr Christian got a bit upset at that.

A good friend of mine at university was both a)gay and b) an evangelical Christian who believed that homosexual practice was a sin. I have rarely seen anyone more internally conflicted and emotionally rung out.

What's the point in sinning if you don't feel guilty about it.

I was going to watch Salting the Battlefield until I heard it was a trilogy. Instead I watched a docu on a guy who landed a plane. He had never flown before and his friend literally died at the controls of his light aircraft. Gripping stuff even though you know he got it down ok.

was salting the battlefield on last night, I may now watch it

purely to confirm my hatred of the sheepish, liberal wanker that is david hare

Perhaps it's hard to find someone who does actually want to be 'cured'.
