At 8:23 on a Tuesday morning; such a decadent lifestyle, John. :O

As for Rob, he is summoning the energy to go and locate the correct disc for the Wire. It'd be a shame to waste a sick day on daytime telly.

Which season of the Wire are you on? And have you seen TimeCrimes yet?

I've been on Season 2 for aaages. I mislaid the boxset in Juy, then found at he weekend my wife had put it out of the way in with my running stuff. That gives you some indication I feel, of what a lazy sod I am.

And no, it's still on the shelf, silently screaming at me. It won't get watched today either; the telly in the bedroom is too small to watch anything with subtitles on.

I watched it last night. I'm slaving at work at the moment. Apart from typing this bit, that is.

And get True Crimes watched!

Sorry, which one am I again?

The fact that you have to ask should tell you the answer. Brrrrrr.

I thought the series worked really well, but it was quite grim, depressing stuff. Some brilliant performances.

The message was all over the place: Thatcher is evil, the Falklands war was wrong, rape shouldn't be reported and self-defence is manslaughter and a jailable offence.

I don't think it was saying rape shouldn't be reported, it was just telling this story featuring those characters.

As for the attack, the killer was a known violent criminal, so he wouldn't have had a great defence, it would probably have been argued that he was over the top, that actually killing the guy was too much, he could have saved the girl without beating him to death with a hammer. (She hit him many times, which would look like he was over the top in his attack and seeking to kill as opposed to just fending the bloke off)

You would recognise Jona Lewie ?

'Say goodnight to the people Gracie.'

Wave

It was his song being used that made me notice him when he popped up. Plus I saw him in something else recently.

Ah!

Wiki explains . . .

In 2010, the advertising agency Mother London used the track to advertise Ikea's kitchens. The advert, which ran to 3 minutes, featured the group Man Like Me walking around a party in a house comprised only of kitchens while singing a new version of the song. Jona himself appears in the ad as the host of the party.

I liked the cats one best !

A woman who was repeatedly raped as a child was raped again as an adult and her self-defence was so abhorrent that a criminal had to step in and take the rap. That's how I saw it, anyway.

Anyone who beat a rapist to death while he was in the middle of the act would be treated as a hero in this country and rightly so.
