Searching for name of British sitcom from the 90s

I am trying to identify the name of a British sitcom which was broadcast briefly here in Israel in the 1990s about a young couple (he was an illustrator or comics writer who worked at home), she was a working mom. They had 2 kids.

The memorable lines I can't forget are from a scene when the parents are in bed at night when the young son calls from his room:
"Mum, I want a drink of water."
Mother responds "You want a drink of water, WHAT?"
Son responds "I don't understand the question."

Help !

Alternatively, if Marcus Brigstocke is the father face you're looking for, the show is 2001's The Savages. But I think the kids were a bit young for what you're describing.
