The Show What You Wrote Page 32

Did anyone head to the history recording last night? I couldn't make it so I'm curious as to how it went and what kind of stuff was aired.

Was a good one last night imo.
Topic-wise it was quite a mixed bag.
Without spoiling anything, there were:
- a couple of wartime letters (one a monologue)
- scientific figures both in domestic settings (Darwin's marriage) and presenting their findings/theories (Schroedinger's cat)
- one on Egyptian mummification
- medieval torture
- planning permission for ancient monuments
- the misleading bustle
- ads for revamped National Trust attractions
- Theseus and the Minotaur
- a covert WW1 German invasion
- Richard III still after a horse a horse
- Oliver asking for more in the Victorian workhouse
- Roman identity theft
- errr lots more that I'll probably remember later

I think that most were based on actual historical figures/events/practices with a smattering of mythology and fiction.

;) so it's kitchen sink next week.... fingers crossed!

The planning permission for ancient monuments sketch - any chance the monument in question was the Great Wall of China or has a better writer than me come up with a similarly hilarious premise?

It was closer to home than China. But I'll say a different writer rather than better, having not read yours.

Bugger. Would like to have got a sketch on this and the History show was my best chance. Never mind, he blushed, I made it onto the Sitcom Mission's shortlist so this week is officially being marked down as a ruddy good 'un and no mistake.

Can we have a jar set up for everyone who hasn't been accepted saying "they WILL get back to me"? It's boring me and I'm hoping the same.

Oops...

(Tink of coin going in jar)

Does "they will get back to ME?" count?

Not that I've been saying that, just curious.

I think people who say "they will get back to ME" should pay double. Obvious ego problem.

I actually emphasised 'ME' with an accompanying sense of disbelief.

Or you were saying "they will get back to ME" as in they will go back to the chronic fatigue illness once it's all over.

After writing about twenty subs, what lightweights....

That's a rather comprehensive description from you there, thanks! Do you have a photographic memory, except with sound, and only comedy, as that'd be quite a niche x-man power to have. Remind me never to say anything to you that I wouldn't want repeated.

I wish I'd been able to go as that looks like it was a good episode, how did they go down with the audience?

Today I believe we all cross our fingers, or the stumpy remnants of digits we have left after typing them into a pulp, for the final weeks submission emails, good luck all!

(Tink)

This post is very well written though.

Indeed. This is the episode I re-wrote something for so the NJ-esque tension is starting to build.

Could someone please let me know when to give up hoping.
