This caught my attention on Twitter the other day, thought I'd share it here, although there isn't much information on hand at the minute.

You've probably already noticed this, but Tom Neenan and Jack Bernhardt have posted example scripts on the show's website to illustrate what they're after - there's one for thriller and one for kitchen sink.

Sounds promising.

It might be nice to know what specifically to get thinking about, but otherwise exciting.

Thanks for the share Ben, very nice of you.

Wow - 10 sketches per episode? Good luck to the readers! This looks like a great opportunity, thanks for posting.

This sounds a pretty good opportunity.

Yeah. I thought that. I was expecting the '2 max' that Recorded For Training Purposes let you send, but '50 max' is both generous and ambitious!

Is everyone else reading it as one deadline for all episodes?

10! 10! Clearly someone at Radio 4 really likes reading non-com scripts.

Mind you I'm not sure I'm going to be able to write 50 sketches suitable for Radio 4 standard in a month.

Looks like it.

I'm not sure I can write top quality sketches on all those themes. I'm tempted to write a few number of sketches on one of the themes and tailor them so they end up perfect.

Looks like a superb opportunity but I hope they realise that up to 2,000 people will be sending in 10 sketches for 5 episodes.

That's 100,000 sketches in total...

This sounds like a great opportunity.

It's just a shame that the writing period coincides with the next series of Newsjack.

That's probably not a coincidence; more a 'keeping the numbers down' tactic!

Deadline is 4th March, so you've got 27 days to write 50 sketches. Alongside 12 sketches you can enter for Newsjack in the same period. That's 62 sketches in the next 27 days!

I imagine that's a piece of piss, especially for those of us who are simultaneously trying to write entries for Sitcom Mission and Sitcom Trials (31st March deadline).

So that's 2.3 sketches a day and 0.4 of a sitcom (assuming a single entry in each sitcom opp and no days off). That would be challenging enough without wasting 40 hours a week at work!
